Lizard Point in South East Queensland's Main Range National Park is a large shelf of rock upon which intrepid hikers can literally hike up a mountainside and over the summit of Mt Roberts to eventually sit, boil up the billy on their hiking stove, kick back, have lunch and rest a while - basking in the Queensland sun like lizards - taking in the spectacular views (which of course change, depending upon where one chooses to sit). It makes for either a strenuous full day return hike from Teviot Gap; a 3-day Through Walk from Spicer's Gap to the North, or a 2-day overnight hike, camping at tiny Lizard South Remote Bush Camp (which must be pre-booked & paid for via QPW), hiking up and out via Mt Superbus Shoulder or to the Superbus-Roberts Saddle via what's been called 'the middle ridge', then over Mt Roberts and out to the tiny campsite, with Lizard Point about a 10 minute walk beyond (where people are not permitted to camp, due to the sensitive nature of the environment). This is steep, remote country, and not for inexperienced walkers. Having a topographic map of the area is also a very good idea, plus enough food and water. If you've never been there it's certainly worth the effort. But if inexperienced as a bush walker, its advisable to go with someone with experience who has done this hike before.

An amazing nation park. We did the Bare rock hike, the view was amazing. You can find here whipbirds, many tree ferns, giant trees, lianas and the typical grasstrees.

The falls are special even with low flows. Enjoy take photos, leave footprints.

So close to brisvegas, can be very popular, or you can be lucky for quiet easy access. Not easy for handicapped but reasonable for most ages who do not mind sloping paths with a few steps thrown in.

Best time to go is after the rain and everything is alive, going back tomorrow to do another of the hikes and would recommend it to everyone, just watch the stinging trees and know how to use the antidote.

Great place to camp for your first time camping. Lovely walk through rain forest. Path follows the creek and the kids love crossing. Plenty of vines to swing on as well.
